There have been lots of debates regarding keeping a betta fish with a goldfish. Some say it is safe to put a fighter fish with a goldfish. But others say it is very risky to do so. Most of the fish keepers who kept betta fish and gold fish together have said they had not faced any problems at all. But others have admitted of having problems.
Now, I will list reasons below which recommend not to put betta fish and gold fish together in a tank. They are:
1. Betta fish is a tropical water fish. That means it prefers warm water. On the other side, goldfish is a cold water fish. Though betta fish can stay in cold water with goldfish, it will not be healthy and happy.
2. Goldfish releases large amount of waste into water. This may instantly affect betta if the tank is not regularly cleaned.
3. Since betta fish is territorial and aggressive in nature, there is always a chance that it may attack goldfish without any provocation.
4. Another thing is that most of the goldfish carry diseases with them. When such a goldfish is put in with a betta fish, disease will be transmitted to it.
